They say that it is perfect to bring a slow cooker because you can leave it before you begin your day and by the time you get home it will be ready for your tummy! Here are some slow cooker recipes you can try:
Recipe from: lecremedelacrumb
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
Salt and pepper to taste (I used about 1/2 teaspoon of each)
2 tsp minced garlic
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 cup sweet marsala cooking wine (may sub chicken broth in a pinch)
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup corn starch
Fresh parsley, roughly chopped
- Grease your slow cooker lightly using a nonstick spray. Generously season the chicken with pepper and salt and place it inside the slow cooker.
- Add the garlic, mushrooms, and marsala wine. You can then cover and cook for 5-6 hours on low.
- Transfer the chicken to a plate. Whisk together water and cornstarch till dissolved, then pour into a slow cooker and stir.
- Add chicken back to slow cooker, switch heat to high, cover and cook another 20-30 minutes until sauce is thickened. Taste and add salt and pepper as needed. Sprinkle with parsley and serve.
Slow Cooker “Melt in Your Mouth” Pot Roast

1 chuck roast around 3 pounds
1 pound carrots, peeled and cut into large chunks
2 pounds potatoes, peeled and cut into large chunks
1 onion, peeled and cut into large chunks
2 stalks celery, cut into large chunks (optional)
1 cup beef broth
1 tbsp corn starch
2 tbsp seasoning for the steak
1 tbsp kosher salt
1 tbsp dried thyme
1 tbsp rosemary (dried)
Place the ingredients for the seasoning in a small bowl and then set aside.
- Coat both sides of your steak with some olive oil. Add some of the seasoning on both sides as well.
- Sear both sides of the meat in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Transfer roast to slow cooker.
- Place the vegetables in a large bowl. Drizzle on a little olive oil to coat vegetables. Sprinkle on the remaining seasoning mix. Add the vegetables to the same skillet that was used to sear the meat. Sauté for about five minutes – stirring occasionally.
- Transfer the vegetables to the top of the roast in the slow cooker. Pour in the beef broth. Cover with lid.
- Cook on low for 9 hours or on high for 6 hours.
- Using a turkey baster, retrieve most of the cooking juices from the slow cooker. Transfer juices to a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat on the stovetop. Whisk together the cornstarch with a little water. Blend into the pan juices while whisking. Bring back to a simmer until thickened. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Transfer to a serving dish. Pour gravy over. Serve hot.
